Banda Aceh - 13/12/22, The National Archives of The Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) hosted Southeast Asia Regional Branch of International Council on Archives (SARBICA) Special Meeting on 14th December 2022 in Banda Aceh, Indonesia to discuss the 23rd General Conference, the 24th Executive Board Meeting and International Seminar hosted by National Archives of Thailand. The event was attended by the heads of national archives of the country members of SARBICA including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Philippines. They have to present their archive collections of ASEAN formation for memory of the world register in regional committee for Asia and the Pacific.
Imam Gunarto as the Director General of ANRI said that it has been agreed that SARBICA will nominate the archives of the formation of ASEAN into the International Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific (MOWCAP) register in 2024. Joint nomination itself will be conducted between SARBICA and ASEAN Secretariat. He also mentioned some of the requirement to conduct the joint nomination which include the preparations of nominating archives of the formation of ASEAN. Secondly is to complete the form and supporting files, which followed by conducting the final nomination forms and supporting files. The last step is signing forms, legal document and collecting joint support.
It was also decided in the meeting that National Archives of Singapore will hold Oral History Virtual Workshop for SARBICA on 30 and 31 January 2023 to dig more details on the archive collections of 25 years of ASEAN formation.
